In this doc, we'll show you Timing Tips for Evergreen Automated Emails in Kit. There are a few additional steps to complete as well -

Many Email Service Providers offer conditional waits, i.e., wait until Monday at midnight, then send the webhook.

Kit offers automations and rules, but doesn't have a 'wait' condition, so this article offers a few workarounds.

In this article we will cover:

How to create a 'wait' condition with Kit so that your promotion emails begin and end on specific days of the week:

Video Tutorial:

Timing Emails for a Specific Day of the week:

Scenario 1:

You want your promotional emails to always start on a Monday and end on a Friday.

As explained in the video, in this scenario you cannot set a deadline based on the number of days, because the number of days will be variable.

Our recommendation: Multiple Sequences:

Multiple sequences will allow you to control the start of your promotional sequence so that the distance between the start and end of your promotional emails is the same after the webhook is triggered.

Three Sequences Scenario:

  • Email 1 adds your lead to an Introductory/Waiting List Sequence

  • Email 2 adds a tag to trigger your Deadline Funnel webhook and sends a single promotional email

  • Email 3 kicks off your promotional sequence that runs Tuesday through Friday

Here are some of the reasons for setting up the promotion this way:

  • The API integration with Kit is set to use a tag in Kit as the trigger

  • Due to how Kit currently works it's easiest to set the tag when someone first enters a sequence, which is why we're starting a new sequence on a specific day to trigger the webhook

Note: It's important to set the email time for the promo sequence to be sent 1 hour before the Monday-only email is set. You should test this, but this is to make sure that the first promotional email is sent on Tuesday and not later in the day on Monday.

How to create a 'wait' condition with Kit so that you can be certain the last day in your email sequence syncs up with the last day of the deadline:

Well use this sequence as an example:

The first email gets sent out immediately after someone enters the sequence. That's Day 0 of the deadline. The following emails are set to send "after 1 day”.

You can control the specific time that those emails get sent out each day under the Settings in your campaign:

In this example we've set this to send emails out at 8 am Eastern Time each day:

Note: Make sure you have the Deadline Funnel campaign timezone set to the same timezone in your Kit account.

In the example above we have 6 days worth of emails, and we want to be able to send the subscriber two emails on the final day. One in the morning, and one in the late afternoon.

So, let's say a subscriber enters the sequence on Monday at 5 pm EST.

You have the webhook set up to start their deadline when they get added to the sequence, and they receive the first email immediately, Monday at 5 pm EST (Day 0 of the deadline).

Each of the following emails is sent out on day 1/2/3/etc, at 8 am EST. Then on the final day, you know the first email is going to send out at 8 am, so then you just set a condition to say 'Send after 8 hours' and that will allow your final email to be sent out at 4 pm EST.

With this method, you can rest assured that your emails will always line up with the length of the deadline. :)
