Intro

In this guide, we'll show you how to integrate Deadline Funnel with Kit and use the Deadline Funnel email links in your Kit emails.

If you are setting this up for the first time, please check out our guide to see how to connect your Kit API key to Deadline Funnel.

Integrate Deadline Funnel with Your Kit Automation

This is how you should connect your Deadline Funnel campaign with your Kit automation.

1. Choose Your Trigger Tag

Open the Emails tab in your campaign editor. Choose or create your tag.

This is the tag that will add the subscriber to Deadline Funnel and start their deadline, when the tag is applied to a subscriber in Kit.

In this example, we have created a tag called "Welcome offer":

2. Create Webhook

Click on Create a Webhook:

3. View the Webhook Rule in Kit

You can view your webhook rule in Kit by going to Automate → Rules:

4. Add the Tag to Your Automation

Next, update your Kit automation to add that same trigger tag to subscribers wherever you want to automatically add them to your Deadline Funnel campaign and start their unique deadline.

This is what our automation in Kit looks like. Whenever a user subscribes to a form, they will be automatically tagged with the Welcome offer tag:

As soon as a lead goes through our selected tag in Kit, they will be automatically added to our Deadline Funnel campaign and receive a deadline.

Add Deadline Funnel Email Links to Your Emails

Deadline Funnel email links are very important to use in your emails wherever you are linking to your special offer (i.e. sales page or checkout page) that subscribers will only be able to access before the deadline.

Deadline Funnel email links pass the subscriber's email address through the link so Deadline Funnel can look up the subscriber's deadline based on their email address and redirect them to your special offer page (or to the expired page if their deadline is expired).

1. Copy Your Email Link

In this example, our special offer page is https://example.com/my-special-offer-today. So we will go to the Emails tab of the Campaign Editor in Deadline Funnel, and copy the Deadline Funnel email link for this page (starts with https://dfl0.us/s/...).

2. Add The Email Link to Your Email

Anywhere we're linking to our special offer from our emails, we'll update that link to use the Deadline Funnel email link instead.

3. Add The Link To a Button

Create your button, and insert the email link here:

That's it!

Your email link now appears in your email and will track your subscribers who click that link and take them to your campaign page

Add an Email Timer to Your Kit Emails

Kit currently offers two different types of editors for their emails - Our video and the instructions directly below show you how to add the Email Timer using the legacy editor in Kit. If you're using the new beta version of the editor, you can click here to view those instructions.

How to Add the Email Timer Using the Legacy Email Editor in Kit

First, open the Emails tab on the left side of your campaign editor, and then copy the Email timer HTML code:

In your Kit editor, click the HTML icon to view the HTML code for your email, move the cursor to the spot where you want your countdown to appear and paste the Deadline Funnel email timer HTML code into the email:

When you click the HTML icon again, you will see a preview of your countdown timer:

How to Add the Email Timer Using the New Email Editor in Kit

In the Deadline Funnel admin, navigate to Edit Campaign > Emails and click the HTML Code to copy it:

In the email editor, click the 'Plus' icon where you want to place the Email Timer:

Select HTML Block:

Paste the HTML Code from Deadline Funnel into the HTML Block and hit 'Save':

That's it! Your Email Timer will now appear in your email:

Note: If you're adding the Email Timer to multiple emails in your campaign, you must copy a fresh code for each email that you’re adding it to.

Each time you copy the code, DF generates a new, slightly different code. So, for example, if you are using the timer in two different emails, you would click to copy the code and add it to the first email, then come back to Deadline Funnel, click to copy the code a second time, and paste that new code into your second email.

This helps to ensure that your subscribers always see an update deadline timer in their emails.

Test Your Campaign

Once you've set up your integration, make sure to do a quick test to make sure that everything is working as expected.

1. Clear Your Tracking

Open the Test Your Campaign tab in your campaign editor, and click on Clear My Tracking:

2. Enter the Email Address You Want to Use to Test

Fill out the email address that you'd like to use for your test user and click Next:

Once you click on Next, you should be able to see that Deadline Funnel is waiting for the event:

3. Add a Test Subscriber in Kit

You should now add the email address to your Kit automation, so that the user gets tagged for the campaign.

It's recommended to opt in to the funnel like a regular lead would.

Note: The test user must be tagged in Kit with the tag that you have selected in your Deadline Funnel campaign. The tag is the triggering event.

4. Confirm Subscriber Is Added to Deadline Funnel

Once you've added the user to your automation and the user has been tagged, you should be able to see that the event was received.

It might take a few minutes, and don't forget to refresh the page:

If you can see that the event was received, it means that your integration is working!

5. Test Your Email Links

Lastly, you should click on your email link in Step 4. When you click on the link, you should be able to see the timer on your page:
