How to add a dynamic date and time to Drip email

In this doc, we'll show you How to Add a Dynamic Date and Time to Drip Email. There are a few additional steps to complete as well -

Note: You need to integrate your Deadline Funnel campaign with Drip before you can use the custom field.

How to find the name of your Custom Field

Click on Integrations in the top blue bar:

Select the integration for your campaign:

Now click on your Drip integration:

Note the name of the custom field that you selected for this campaign:


When you create an email in Drip, you'll choose between the Visual Builder or the Text/HTML Builder.

How to Use Your Custom Field in Drip Visual Builder

Important Note: There can be a delay between when the webhook triggers the deadline for a contact and when the contact's custom field gets populated with their deadline. Because of this, we recommend that you don't use the custom field in your emails until at least one day after the deadline is initially triggered.

In the visual email editor, place the cursor where you want to add the dynamic date and time and click 'Personalize':

Scroll down and select your Deadline Funnel custom field that you selected when you set up your API integration (we named ours 'deadlinetext'), and click 'Insert':

This will insert your custom field placeholder into your email:

When you send yourself the email, you will see that the placeholder has been replaced with the deadline text format you chose in your setup.

NOTE: You must send the actual email, the placeholder will not be replaced in a test message. You can send the message to yourself to test the delivery.


How to Use Your Custom Field in Drip Text/HTML Email

In the email editor, click the 'HTML' tab, place the cursor where you want to add the dynamic date and time and click 'View Shortcodes':

Scroll down and select your Deadline Funnel custom subscriber field that you selected when you set up your API integration (we named ours 'deadlinetext'), and click 'Insert':

This will insert your custom field placeholder into your email:

When you send yourself the email, you will see that the placeholder has been replaced with the deadline text format you chose in your setup.
