In this doc, we'll show you how to set up the API integration for ActiveCampaign. There are a few additional steps to complete after that -

Our API Integration allows you to create an automation in ActiveCampaign and start a lead's Deadline Funnel tracking based on when a webhook is triggered in that automation.

You only need to connect your ActiveCampaign account to your Deadline Funnel account once. That involves adding the ActiveCampaign URL and Key to your Deadline Funnel account.

Each campaign you then create in Deadline Funnel needs to be integrated with ActiveCampaign as well. This means copying the webhook from Deadline Funnel for that specific campaign and adding it to your ActiveCampaign automation wherever you want to add subscribers to that Deadline Funnel campaign.

How to connect Deadline Funnel to your ActiveCampaign account:

If you've already connected your ActiveCampaign account with Deadline Funnel,

For your first integration, you will need to add your ActiveCampaign Account URL and Key to connect your Drip account with Deadline Funnel.

Click on Settings >> Developer in the left menu of your ActiveCampaign dashboard and then copy the API URL:

Navigate to the 'Emails' tab in the left-hand menu of your campaign and paste the API URL from ActiveCampaign in the first box:

Back in ActiveCampaign, copy your Key, and then paste that into the API Key box in Deadline Funnel and click 'Integrate'.

Integrate your Deadline Funnel campaign with ActiveCampaign:

For each new campaign you create in Deadline Funnel, we will generate a unique webhook that will work to trigger that specific deadline.

To find this webhook, simply navigate to the Emails tab of your campaign. You will be prompted to select the ActiveCampaign account you want to use (typically you will only have one, but in some cases you may have a couple accounts, so select the relevant one).

Optionally: If you want to select a custom field in ActiveCampaign to store a copy of each lead's deadline information, select it from the drop-down on the next screen, or if you want to create a new field, just start typing into the box to create the new custom field.

This is an optional step and should be completed before you copy the webhook:

Now go ahead and copy the webhook for ActiveCampaign:

Add the Webhook URL to trigger Deadline Funnel in the ActiveCampaign automation/Workflow

In the example below, we will set up an automation in ActiveCampaign that sends the HTTP post (webhook) to trigger the Deadline Funnel tracking.

As soon as a contact reaches that part of the Workflow, their unique deadline will begin in Deadline Funnel, and they'll only have a specific amount of time from that point to access your special offer.

There are a lot of different variations on this that you can do with ActiveCampaign and Deadline Funnel - you can trigger a deadline when someone clicks a link, completes a campaign, performs a custom event, etc.

You can either create a new ActiveCampaign automation or edit an existing one.

Click the plus icon at the point in your automation where you want the deadline to begin:

When you click the plus icon, a window will pop up. On the left side of that window, select Conditions and Workflow. Then, on the right side, select Webhook.

Paste the webhook URL from Deadline Funnel into the text box.

Now you're all set.

When each contact reaches the HTTP Post in your Workflow, their deadline will begin.

Test your integration

You can test by adding a new contact to your Workflow, waiting until the contact has reached the HTTP post in your Workflow, and then checking under Analytics >> People Tracked in Deadline Funnel to confirm their email address was received by Deadline Funnel.

Important Note about Email Links

For the API integration to work you MUST use the Deadline Funnel email links in any of your emails that link to a sales page with a countdown timer, or that link to a page in your funnel that links to another page with your countdown timer.

In other words, the API integration requires that your subscribers click one of the Deadline Funnel email links before they reach a page with a countdown. This is necessary in order to make sure each subscriber is assigned the correct deadline.
