Getting Started

In this guide, we'll show you how to add a Deadline Funnel timer to your Optimizepress page.

This process involves 3 steps:

Deadline Funnel default behavior

The default behavior in Deadline Funnel is to always show a deadline on the page.

  • If the visitor has already been tracked by Deadline Funnel, then we'll show their existing deadline.

  • If they haven't been tracked yet, Deadline Funnel will start tracking them via their IP address/cookie, and display a new deadline for that user.

Create your Deadline Funnel campaign

You will need to create your first campaign before you can add your timer to a Optimizepress page.

Once you've created your Deadline Funnel campaign, you can follow the steps below to integrate with Optimizepress.

Adding Your Tracking Code to Optimizepress

There are three different ways that you can add the Tracking Code to Optimizepress.

  1. The Deadline Funnel WordPress plugin - This offers the simplest way to incorporate Deadline Funnel into your OptimizePress pages.

  2. Manually add the Deadline Funnel Tracking Code to your OptimizePress pages.

  3. Google Tag Manager - Follow this guide if you already have GTM integrated with your Wordpress site.

Option 1 - Install the Plugin:

1. Navigate to the Account section in the top right of your screen:

2. Now click Advanced > Code Snippets:

3. Click the link to download the WordPress plugin and then copy your Deadline Funnel API key:

4. In the Plugins section of your WordPress dashboard, click Add New > Upload Plugin and click Install to select the plugin from your download location.

Make sure to select the zipped 'deadlinefunnel.zip' file to upload. (Do not unzip the file)

5. When the installation is complete, click Activate

6. Next, Click to add Your Deadline Funnel Key:

7. Paste your Deadline Funnel API Key into the box and click Save Settings:

Note: While your Deadline Funnel Tracking code will be automatically added to every page on your OptimizePress site, the countdown timer will not appear until you add your page(s) to the Pages section of your campaign and tell Deadline Funnel what kind of countdown to show.

Very Important Step: Allow the Deadline Funnel plugin to be active on OptimizePress pages:

1. Before the Deadline Funnel plugin will active on your pages, you need to give it access to OptimizePress pages by going to OptimizePress>>Settings>>Scripts and Styles and then enable JS (Javascript) for both Frontend and Backend.

Now you're ready to add a Floating Bar, Inline timer, or Portal to your page.

Additional Option: Disable the plugin for admin users:

You can disable the plugin for anyone who's logged into your Wordpress account as an admin. This is handy in cases where you need to be able to make changes to your page(s) without being tracked by Deadline Funnel. To use this feature simply go into the Deadline Funnel tab in the admin and toggle it on:

Just be sure to turn this feature back off if you're running a test of your funnel. :)

Option 2 - Manually add the Deadline Funnel tracking code to your OptimizePress page:

1. Start by copying the tracking code from Tracking Code in the top blue bar of your Deadline Funnel admin:

2. Now head to your OptimizerPress page that you want to use in your campaign, open Settings>Page Scripts, and add the tracking code to the Header Scripts section:

Now you're ready to add a Floating Bar, Inline timer, or Portal to your page.

Option 3 - Use Google Tag Manager to add the tracking code to your page

If you already have GTM (Google Tag Manager) integrated with your Wordpress website, you can follow this doc to add the tracking code to GTM:

Once you've followed that guide, return to this one and you're ready to add a Floating Bar, Inline timer, or Portal to your page.

Add a Floating Bar

1. After you've added the tracking code to your page (and if you haven't yet, start here), you're ready to add the timer. Return to your Optimizepress page and click to view it so you can get the correct URL to add in Deadline Funnel.

2. Navigate to 'Pages' in your Deadline Funnel admin. Click 'Add new page' and add the URL of your OptimizePress page, select 'Display Floating Bar', add the URL where you want the page to redirect when the deadline expires, then click 'Save':

3. Once you hit save, the countdown will appear on your page. Here's an example of what the Floating Bar looks like:

If you want to customize the look of your Floating Bar Timer, check out this guide here.

Add an Inline Timer

Click 'Add new page' and add the URL of your OptimizePress page, select 'Display Inline Timer', add the URL where you want the page to redirect when the deadline expires, then click 'Save':

3. There are two different codes you can use at this point to add the Inline timer to your page. The first can be found in the Page settings, we call this the Inline Code Snippet:

4. Or you can use the Inline Shortcode instead. That can be found under Your Account > Advanced > Code Snippets:

Either code will work, but you will only need one or the other, not both.

5. Paste whichever code you choose into your OptimizePress page wherever you want your inline countdown to appear and update your OptimizePress page:

6. Your inline countdown timer will now appear on the page:

If you want to customize the look of your Inline Timer, check out this guide here.

Add Portal

Click 'Add new page' and add the URL of your OptimizePress page, select 'Display Portal', add the URL where you want the page to redirect when the deadline expires, then click 'Save':

3. Once you hit save, Portal will appear on your page. Here's an example of what it will look like:

If you want to customize your Portal, check out this guide here.
