In this doc, we'll show you how to Integrate Deadline Funnel with Kit (API). There are a few additional steps to complete as well -

This guide will help you with two different integrations:

  1. Account Integration- Your Deadline Funnel account needs to be connected to your Kit account. This involves adding the Kit API Key and API Secret to your Deadline Funnel account and only needs to be done once.

  2. Campaign Integration- Each campaign you create in Deadline Funnel needs to be integrated with Kit by creating a rule in Kit that starts the deadline for subscribers when a tag is added. This Kit rule can be created inside of Deadline Funnel.

Video Tutorial:

Integrate your Deadline Funnel and Kit accounts

If you've already connected your Kit account with Deadline Funnel,

To integrate accounts, you will need to add your Kit API Key and API Secret to connect your Kit account with Deadline Funnel.

Login to your Kit account, click on Account > Settings and then Developer. Here you'll see an API Key and API Secret:

Copy each of these keys from Kit and paste them into the corresponding box at the top of Emails pages in your Deadline Funnel campaign:

Then click 'Integrate' to connect.

Integrate your Deadline Funnel campaign with Kit

In the Emails tab of your campaign, select the Kit account that you want to use with this integration (you might have more than one Kit account connected to Deadline Funnel). If you just connected your account, you can move to the next step.

On the next screen you'll need to select an existing tag in your Kit account, or create a new tag by simply typing into the drop-down field we have provided. This tag will be used to trigger the deadline:

Once you've selected your trigger tag, click Create Webhook to add the webhook to Kit. This will create a rule in Kit that starts the webhook (and your subscriber's deadlines) by adding the tag.

If you want to select a custom field in Kit to store a copy of each subscriber's deadline information, select it from the drop-down on the next screen, or if you want to create a new field, just start typing into the box to create the new custom field.

This is an optional step that can be completed before you copy the webhook:

You can see the new rule in Kit by clicking 'view rule in Kit':

Triggering a Deadline in Kit

You have a few options for how to trigger the tag when using a rule, including triggering when someone is added to a sequence, when someone subscribes to a form or when another tag is added. The idea is to connect some step in your funnel that happens when a person first enters the funnel with the deadline trigger.

Option 1 - Add the tag to a Visual Automation in Kit

In this section, we'll cover how to add the trigger tag in a Visual Automation in Kit.

The point at which the trigger tag is added can vary depending on your particular funnel, but in this example, we'll show how to add it so that the deadline will be triggered immediately after someone submits a form.

Navigate to your automation in Kit and click to add a step after the automation trigger step:

Select 'Action' and 'Add or remove tag':

Then select the trigger tag you specified in Deadline Funnel and hit 'Add Action':

Now the trigger tag will be added immediately after someone opts in to the funnel, which will start their deadline, and then you can send them through your email sequence:

Option 2 - Set up a rule to add the trigger tag in Kit

In this example, we used "Subscribes to a form".

Navigate to Automate and select Rules:

Click '+ New Rule':

In this example, we selected 'Subscribes to a form' as the trigger and selected the correct form. We then selected 'Add tag' as the action, and selected the tag that will trigger Deadline Funnel, and clicked 'Save Rule':

Now once someone subscribes to that form, Kit will apply the tag, and the tag will tell Deadline Funnel to start the countdown.

Note: If you want to integrate several different funnels with Kit, you will simply repeat these steps and create a new integration and tag for each campaign, as well as separate automations/sequences in Kit.

This creates a system where Tag A triggers Campaign A, while Tag B triggers Campaign B.

Additional Feature: Bulk Actions

If you want to add several people to a Deadline Funnel campaign you can now do that using Kit's Bulk Actions.

Navigate to Subscribers, select the subscriber(s) you want to tag, and click 'Bulk Actions':

Then click 'Add a Tag':

Select the tag that triggers your Deadline Funnel campaign and click 'Save':

You can tag as many subscribers as you want to trigger.

After the Kit system finishes adding the tags, you can return to the Analytics section in Deadline Funnel and you will see that the emails you tagged in Kit are being tracked by Deadline Funnel.

Testing Your Integration

You can test your campaign integration by adding yourself into your funnel, waiting until the contact has been tagged, and then checking under Analytics >> People Tracked in Deadline Funnel to confirm your email address was received by Deadline Funnel.

(It may take a couple of minutes to come through, so make sure to wait and refresh the Analytics page a couple of times if it's not showing up.)

If that email appears here, you know everything is working correctly with your integration. 🙂 🎉 If you don't see it after a few minutes, you'll need to revisit your integration setup and troubleshoot.

Please visit our guide about how to test your entire campaign after you've finished setting it up.

Important Note about Email Links

For the integration to work you MUST use the Deadline Funnel email links in any of your emails that link to a sales page with a deadline timer, or that link to a page in your funnel that links to another page with your deadline timer.

In other words, the integration requires that your subscribers click one of the Deadline Funnel email links before they reach a page with a timer. This is necessary in order to make sure each subscriber is assigned the correct deadline.
