Intro
Using our API Integration with AWeber, you can trigger your countdown based on when someone subscribes to a specific list in your AWeber account.
Important: Deadline Funnel will trigger the deadline when a user is first added to your list in AWeber, regardless of if they've confirmed their subscription or not. So you will need to disable the double optin feature in your AWeber account in order for this to work properly.
How to Integrate Deadline Funnel with AWeber
1. Connect Your Account
Navigate to the Emails tab in the left-hand menu of your campaign and integrate your Deadline Funnel account with your AWeber account:
You'll be taken to another page where you’ll need to log in to your AWeber account:
Once you’ve successfully connected your accounts, you're ready to complete the following two steps:
2. Select Your List Name
Select the list in AWeber that you want to integrate with:
You can find the name of your list in AWeber here:
2. Select Your Custom Field
Select the custom field that you want to use to store each lead's deadline. If you don't have a custom field for this campaign yet, follow this guide to create the custom field in AWeber:
When you've completed those two fields, click Next, and now you should be ready to test it out!
Add Deadline Funnel Email Links to Your Emails
Deadline Funnel email links are very important to use in your emails wherever you are linking to your special offer (i.e. sales page or checkout page) that subscribers will only be able to access before the deadline.
Deadline Funnel email links pass the subscriber's email address through the link so Deadline Funnel can look up the subscriber's deadline based on their email address and redirect them to your special offer page (or to the expired page if their deadline is expired).
How to Find Your Email Links
When you add a new page to your Deadline Funnel campaign, an email link is automatically generated for that specific page.
You can find your email links by going to the Emails tab on the left side of your campaign editor:
Link-Tracking with Email Links in AWeber
Our Email Links are not compatible with AWeber's link tracking feature, so what we recommend doing as work-around for this is using a third-party link tracking solution such as short.io or bitly.com. Both have free plans.
Let's say we want to add example.com/special-offer to our DF campaign. In short.io or bitly.com, create a short link for example.com/special-offer.
As an example, let's say this is the link it generates:
short.io/abc
In your Deadline Funnel campaign, add two "Pages":
example.com/special-offer - this Page needs to be added to the DF campaign to show Portal or Floating Bar on the page and to redirect people automatically after the deadline expires
short.io/abc - this Page needs to be added to the DF campaign to generate an email link to use in your AWeber emails. For example https://dfl1.us/abc/123?em={!email}
Then, in your AWeber emails, use the DF link (https://dfl1.us/abc/123?em={!email}), which will redirect to your short link (short.io/abc), which will redirect to your page (example.com/special-offer).
Add an Email Timer to Your Emails
This is how you can add a Deadline Funnel email timer to your AWeber emails.
1. Copy the Email Timer Code
Open the Emails tab on the left side of your campaign editor, and copy the Email timer code:
Note: To prevent email platforms from caching the email timer, a new email timer code is automatically generated when you copy the code.
You must copy and paste a new email timer code for each email that you send. I.e, copy and paste one code for Email 1, then go back to Deadline Funnel to copy another code for Email 2, Email 3, etc.
2. Open the HTML editor
In your AWeber email editor, click on the Source icon to open the HTML editor:
3. Paste the Email Timer Code
Copy and paste the Deadline Funnel HTML Code into the AWeber Source box where you want your countdown to appear and click OK:
Once saved, you can preview your email countdown timer in your email editor:
How to Test Your Campaign
Once you've set up your integration, make sure to do a quick test to make sure all the pieces are connecting properly.
1. Clear Your Tracking
Open your campaign, go to the testing tab, and click on Clear My Tracking:
2. Enter Your Email Address
Enter the email address that you want to use for this test:
3. Add Your Contact to AWeber
You should now add your test user to the automation in AWeber, so that the contact triggers the webhook. Ideally, you should opt in to the funnel like a real user would.
4. Confirm Your Test User
Once you have opted in to your automation, you should be able to see the user in your campaign (it might take a few minutes, so make sure to wait and refresh the page):
5. Check Your Timers
Lastly, in Steps 4 and 5, you should click on your email link. You will now be taken to your offer page, where you should see the timer:
That's it!
If you can see that the event was received, and the timer shows up on your page, it means that your integration is working!
